OMMMMMMMMMMMM: Meditation and Pain Perception

My father passed this neat article on, about the impact of even a small amount of meditation training on one's perception of pain. The study's results showed significant decreases in pain perception (40% less pain intensity & 57% less unpleasantness) -- which changes were also documented on MRI scans.

Brain scans have also been used to measure the effect of acupuncture on pain perception, as in this article, and this blog about acupuncture and carpal tunnel syndrome pain.
